A well-established Australian heavy industrial manufacturer is seeking a Workshop Foreman for their Melbourne operation. Operating nationally, the business designs, manufactures and delivers custom-engineered equipment and fabricated solutions for clients across manufacturing, mining, infrastructure and heavy industry. With continued growth and a strong project pipeline, they are looking to appoint a Workshop Foreman to support the day-to-day running of the operation.
Benefits
- Permanent role Monday – Friday 6:00am – 4:00pm
- $55 – $58 per hour depending on experience
- Approx. $157K – $166K + super based on a typical 50-hour working week
- Saturday overtime available: 6:00am – 12:00pm
- Exposure to major industrial projects across multiple sectors
- Genuine pathway into senior workshop leadership
Reporting directly to the Workshop Supervisor, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy fabrication and manufacturing workshop consisting of approximately 15 tradespeople and 4 apprentices.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing day-to-day workshop operations
- Leading and supporting a team of fabrication tradespeople and apprentices
- Allocating labour and resources across fabrication and manufacturing activities
- Ensuring quality standards and production targets are achieved
- Reviewing engineering drawings and work instructions with workshop personnel
- Monitoring workshop productivity, workflow and project delivery
- Supporting procurement and material planning requirements
- Mentoring and developing apprentices and tradespeople
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across workshop operations
- Cert III Engineering – Fabrication Trade or Boilermaking qualification
- Previous experience as a Leading Hand, Supervisor or Workshop Foreman within a fabrication or heavy manufacturing environment
- Strong delegation, communication and problem-solving skills
- Self-starter mentality with the ability to identify solutions and drive outcomes
