MAYDAY was founded with a simple belief: recruitment should feel human. When we opened our doors, we didn’t want to be the biggest agency, but we did want to be the one people remembered for how we made them feel. For showing up. For caring. For doing the right thing, even when it took more time or effort.
What started as three founders around a kitchen table has grown into a national team of specialists across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane all united by one mindset: put people first; the impact is felt far beyond the placement.
The Blue Gap We Couldn’t Ignore.
Following rapid growth across corporate recruitment, MAYDAY saw what the market was missing: a technical recruitment partner that could move fast, truly understand the workforce, and still lead with care. That gap became MAYDAY Blue.
Launched in 2018 as a small electrical labour hire business, the brand quickly grew; supporting sparkies, HVAC technicians and plumbers across major Sydney projects. In 2020, David Booth was appointed to lead the next phase of growth, bringing over 15 years’ experience across supply chain, construction, facilities management and engineering recruitment.
Today, that evolution continues as MAYDAY Technical. We deliver end-to-end technical recruitment across skilled trades, professional and leadership roles, with specialist teams across NSW, QLD and VIC supporting permanent and contract hiring.

Meet David, Managing Director.
David leads MAYDAY Technical with deep industry experience and a calm, outcomes-focused approach that clients immediately trust. With 15+ years recruiting across engineering, construction, technical trades, manufacturing, logistics and operations, he brings the real-world insight needed to hire people who thrive in complex, safety-critical environments.
Working closely with clients across major infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, utilities, logistics networks and specialised engineering services, the team at MAYDAY Technical understands the pressures, deadlines and compliance requirements that define technical and operational environments. Our focus is simple: deliver high-calibre people who can step in, add value and keep projects and businesses moving.

2016 – MAYDAY Begins

July 4, MAYDAY Recruitment launched into the Sydney market.
2018 – Welcome MAYDAY Blue

Launched MAYDAY Blue (now MAYDAY Technical).
2018 – Employee Programs

Introduced key programs including our Buddy Program to support onboarding and MAYDAY Awards to recognise excellence.
2018 – Service Additions

From temp to perm – the first permanent division was established.
2018 – Recognition

Expansion with team Melbourne.

2023 – Welcome MAYDAY Healthcare

Launched MAYDAY Healthcare.
